OMICs 2014 is organized by the
Biomedical Research Branch of the Center for Genetic
Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB).
The CIGB is located in the west side of Havana City and together with other nearby
scientific research centers integrates what is best known as the 'west Havana scientific
pole'. This research center was opened in July 1st, 1986. During these more than
25 years several new vaccines and pharmaceutical drugs for human health has been
developed and are currently in use in the Cuban Health System. The CIGB is 15 minutes
from José Martí International Airport and 20 minutes from Havana downtown by car.
