CIGB
The Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology CIGB is located in the west side of Havana City and together with other nearby scientific research centers integrates what is best known as the 'scientific pole' west of Havana. This research center was opened in July 1st, 1986. During these more than 20 years several new vaccines and pharmaceutical drugs for human health has been developed and are currently in use in the Cuban Health System. CIGB is 15 minutes from José Martí International Airport and 20 minutes from Havana downtown by car. The geographic position of CIGB is showed with a red circle in the map below.
